Previous to the current pandemic, Ellen primarily worked with site responsive sculptural installations and due to lockdown restrictions she was unable to continue working on a large scale for this period. This caused Ellen to rethink her practice and adapt it to the current times. Her works on paper are directly respond to her sculptural practice - a process led by the physical engagment with her chosen materials/ object. This reconfiguration resulted in a series of works act as energetic imagined landscapes that engage with the 2 dimensional space of the page and play within these limitations. She uses a vibrant colour palette which she forms and layers block colours alongside gestural marks.
